Happiness is a memory. We do not stop and say, “I’m happy.” The feeling of happiness is how we categorized a memory. Satisfying the addiction to the experience of happiness is an essential ingredient in achieving career gratification.
Mitch Albom wrote in First Phone Call from Heaven “sometimes what you miss the most is the way a loved one made you feel about yourself.”
It’s the same with career satisfaction. Yes, the work has to match our skills, but a core part of the match is how a particular opportunity makes us feel about ourselves.
There are innumerable ways of reaching states of happiness both personally and professionally. When recognized as a driving force, opportunities multiply.
